After many hours of "pure testing" and several different methods of analysis via computer and water tank simulation, we determined an approximate relationship between the height and the length as follows: If the height is increased or decreased by a certain amount, the same change in stability can be achieved by changing the length by approximately 2.5 times.

In addition to this relationship, we determined that widening the base at the point of contact with the board substantially increases the leverage of the fin against the board. This larger surface area improves the function of the fin and decreases the chance that the fin will damage the board. Read more in the STRENGTH section by clicking the icon below.
